Winter Whites

Despite the lack of snow here on the sunny Sunshine Coast in winter, you can still channel your inner snow bunny with the perfect all white winter outfit. While wearing white in summer involves simple dresses and strappy sandals, white in winter is all about layering. By mixing different shades and textures of white and cream, you can create a sophisticated dimensional outfit that is clean and crisp and will most certainly lift your mood on those freezing cold days. Take your favourite white dress into winter by layering it up with a long sleeved ribbed white shirt or jumper and pairing it with either boots or sneakers. The summer trend of fresh white jeans can also be taken to winter by pairing them with a soft cashmere sweater or a luxe chunky knit for a cool and casual look. As colourless as white may be, dressing in head-to-toe monochrome is a fashion statement all on its own- so if in doubt, keep your outfit simple and refined. Resist the urge to bundle up in dark pieces when the days become cooler, get inspired, bend the fashion rules and stand out in the sea of black, grey and navy this winter with an all white ensemble.

Style Tip: Take advantage of your clean white canvas and style your outfit with accessories like a patterned clutch or scarf and statement jewellery.

Embroidered Accents

With the Easter season comes the cooler weather, and with the arrival of cooler weather it’s time to pull out your favourite autumn/winter staple…JEANS. No matter your age, gender, size or shape, I’m sure you have at least one pair of jeans in your wardrobe. However, if you are part of that rare breed who doesn’t own a pair, then here are a few reasons why you should:-

  1. They are extremely versatile
  2. Denim is always in fashion
  3. Easy to style
  4. Options are endless
  5. Durable fabric
  6. Plenty of options so there is a pair out there to suit every shape

This season not only have I been loving my classic denim jeans, but embroidered jeans have become my new go to as they add that little extra something to your look. The good news is that you can choose to go for the subtle embroidered option of jeans with little accents of detail, or go all out with loud and bold embroidery for the brave. Embroidered jeans are super easy to style, and can be dressed up or down depending on the look you are after. These jeans come in many styles and colours and since they are highly on trend at the moment you can find them not only in designer boutiques, but most major chain stores as well, meaning you don’t have to spend a fortune to be on trend.

My jeans feature a subtle floral design, adding a feminine touch to the distressed denim. They are mid-rise, super comfy, and perfect for a casual day out.

So why not try something new this season - give embroidery a go. I know breaking away from the norm can be intimidating at times, but trust me, this trend is worth it. Join the embroidered denim craze and make a statement.

Back To Basics

When it comes to creating a strong foundation for your wardrobe, it is essential to cover all the basics. Although bright colours and patterns can be fun, they are trend items that come and go with the seasons and you can easily tire of them. For that reason, having timeless pieces that will work paired back with various items in your wardrobe is a must. Think neutral colours and a relaxed fit. These are the essentials you can always count on. So today I thought I would share with you my favourite basic essential items from my wardrobe that I can’t live without.

1. Short-Sleeved White T-shirt

There is honestly nothing more versatile than the trusty white tee. Whether you use it for layering, tucking it in to a skirt or high-waisted shorts, or letting it hang loose over a pair of jeans, this item is without a doubt the number one essential every girl needs.

2. Tank Top

Tank tops are again, one of those items that are just so versatile and as our friend Tay Tay says, they “never go out of style”. They are perfect for layering under jackets, pairing with a maxi skirt, and so the list goes on. White, black and grey are a must as they are neutral tones that will work with everything.

3. Black Shorts

When in doubt with what to wear on your bottom half, slip into some black shorts. These bad boys are on high rotation in my wardrobe. Try a high-waisted pair of black shorts with a striped tee for a classic, all-American look.

4. Denim Skirt

If you do not own a denim skirt, well you have been missing out my friend. This classic, new and improved item from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s is a necessity! The number of ways this piece can be styled with are endless, but some options are with a t-shirt, button up blouse, knit jumper or crop. Newsflash: Old is always the new in fashion, so that makes this piece a never-failing companion.

5. White Sneakers

Classic white kicks are taking over the streets, (but who could blame them?). From skater classics, to updated tennis trainers, white sneakers are a favourite in the fashion industry. Paired with shorts and a T-shirt, jeans and jumper, or a cute dress / playsuit to dress it down, these shoes will not disappoint.

So there you have it, my 5 basics that I could NOT possibly live without. These 5 essentials are the base of my wardrobe and anchor anything exciting and out there that I choose to style them with.

Much Love, Brittany x
