A Hint Of Blush

Flower Child

With the cold weather well and truly gone, it is time to say goodbye to those fluffy winter knits and pack them away for another year. The next season is amongst us and I couldn’t be more excited. Despite all the pollen in the air kickstarting my beloved allergies, it’s ok because the sun is out, the days are longer and the flowers have blossomed. That’s right, spring has sprung!

In the fashion world, spring allows your most feminine side to come out and play as the season is all about frills, bright colours, delicate shapes, and intricate details.

Side Note: This spring the colour pink solidified its supreme power on the catwalks!

As I am a lover of all things pretty and frilly, naturally I was jumping for joy when one of my favourite labels Spell & The Gypsy Collective released their Flower Child collection. With childhood photographs and scrapbooks inspiring the designs, this collection exhibits the young spirit in all of us through the use of tiny florals and sweet hues. To me, the whole collection screams spring and resembles a lot of what mini me used to wear (which is probably why I like it so much). It was definitely love at first sight and despite the iconic Miranda Priestly’s voice in the head saying, "Florals? For spring? Groundbreaking,” this season they really are.

Florals are fun, playful and are all about embracing the joy and romance of spring. In saying that, my favourite look from the campaign was this flirty cami paired with the corresponding frilled shorts. This set is undoubtably sweeter than sugar with a beautiful floral print in musky tones where the blooms are subdued and not too overwhelming. Featuring tassels, lace detailing and a flared bottom, this off the shoulder top is the perfect spring attire to bring out your inner girly girl. When coupled up with the dainty ruffled matching shorts, this twin set is exceptionally flattering and is sure to be a spring showstopper.

While florals may be predictable in spring fashion, they never go out of style so don't be afraid to follow the blossoming trend and add a little spring in your step (I know I will be). Put your femininity on display with fashions ongoing love affair for florals, I can assure you its blooming worth it!
