Loving Linen

Summer time is well and truly upon us. The sun is bright, the weather is warm, but finding an outfit that is not too hot to wear can be a challenge. I too struggled with this once upon a time, however now when the days are blazing I know exactly what to wear. Linen!

Linen is easy, breezy, and has many attractive properties which make it the perfect summer fabric. Due to the fibre specifics and the weave, linen provides a great airflow and will not stick to your skin because of the fabric’s structure. Being a ‘“stiff” fabric, linen is not clingy around the body and possesses a high air permeability which means that the air can flow through the fabric easily, keeping the body cool. Linen also allows the body to be rid of moisture as the fabric has the power to absorb any perspiration on the skin. Linen is also a good conductor of heat which means that when perspiration is absorbed it will evaporate off quickly so you will be sweat stain free!

Quick Fact: Those who wear linen in summer feel 3˚-4˚ below and perspire about 1.5 times less than those who are wearing silk or cotton.

Not only does linen allow the body to breathe, but it also makes for an effortless, yet understated look and it is comfortable and practical. There is also no need to worry about ironing, as creased linen can give off an edgy vibe. Here I have taken my favourite linen pieces which have become a staple in my summer wardrobe and styled them to show you just how simple and fresh this fabric can be.

So there is no need to fret about the sweat this summer, just add some linen to your wardrobe and you will be feeling fine in no time.
